Review: Seventeen Magazine, October 2012

Seventeen magazine has never had an issue with captivating the consumer's attention with the bright colours and bold words on the front cover. Each month, well-known celebrities are featured in the magazine, attracting more people to buy the magazine so that they can read more about their favourite actors or singers. Each article's titles are in bold, and the colours black and red are used to catch the reader's attention. Furthermore, the main issue covered in each title is always in the largest font, for example "beauty", "pretty", "work" or "first impression". Not only does this grab the reader's attention, it also allows them to find the section they want to read about with ease. By combining bright, bold colours that are fun yet simple and not too chaotic, it allows the reader to enjoy reading the magazine leisurely without getting confused over a messy and disorganized layout. I personally love reading the Seventeen magazine as its filled with useful tips and ideas for everyone. Furthermore, it's a great magazine to read with my friends as we laugh over the quizzes and monthly horoscopes. I would definitely recommend this magazine to teenage girls, beauty and fashion lovers and anyone looking for a fun and easy read when they are relaxing.

Book Review: Confessions of a Shopaholic

This chick-lit novel was definitely a fun and easy read for me. The plot revolves around the heroine, Becky Bloomwood, who struggles as she attempts to fight her desire to shop while dealing with her quickly increasing debt. Being a shopaholic myself, I found myself laughing along as I read about Becky’s encounters as I was able to relate to her impulsive way of spending. It was definitely interesting to see Becky’s hilarious thought process as she tried to overcome her addiction to shopping. I would definitely recommend this book to chick-lit lovers, shopaholics, or anyone just looking for a leisurely read.
